About

Alacridad is an international nonprofit that provides volunteers and computing resources to Latin American community programs.

After identifying dynamic, community-led initiatives, Alacridad's unpaid staff works with community members to co-create an individualized plan of support to meet the needs of the local organization while providing a meaningful intercultural experience for volunteers.

It is our philosophy that this type of assistance can only be effective when we put the community's needs and goals first, rather than imposing outsiders' objectives. Recognizing that local stakeholders are the only ones who truly know what work is needed and appropriate for their own community, Alacridad seeks partnerships with dynamic, community-led initiatives whose work creates value and social justice.

Waqas is an electrical engineer for Cirrus Logic and is currently working on his Phd in electrical engineering at the University of Texas. He enjoys moonlight walks on the beach, refurbishing Mercedes, and organizing large scale parties for the BT family.

Tim Schnippert : Development and Logistics, Panama Project

tim
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA. Tim comes to Alacridad with a background in restaurant management and sales. He has spent the last 5 years working with start-up companies and hopes to bring those experiences to the project team. An avid golfer, he enjoys travel and sports, particularly the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Judy Watts : Program Coordinator, Panama Project

Judy has found herself living out the lyrics to a Van Halen song from the early 80’s.  Though not the biggest fan of Van Halen, neon colors, or spandex, Judy is indeed a product of the 1980s.  When she’s not teaching for Alacridad, Judy spends her days doing development work for Classical 89.5 KMFA, a public radio station in Austin, TX.
